ABOUT

Kailey Mackenzie Brown graduated from University of Alabama in Huntsville with a BFA in Printmaking and Art History minor in 2017. During her undergraduate years, she was her printmaking professor's assistant and studio techincian. Upon graduating, Kailey began working as a letterpress printer, screenprinter and printmaking workshop teacher until March 2018 when she moved to Harbin, China as the International Artist-In_Residence at the Heilongjiang Art Museum and Heilongjiang Printmaking Institute. She worked as a professtional printmaker, English Editor/Translator for exhibitions and taught Western printmaking to members of the printmaking community. With the COVID-19 pandemic, her time in China had to be cut short. Upon moving home to Alabama, she became Artist-of-the-Year at Green Pea Press and Studio Technician. She currently works in her studio at Green Pea Press and teachs a Introduction to Printmaking for High School course and a Traditional Chinese Woodblock and Etching course.

Kailey's work explores the visual connection between moments, memories and emotions within the world around us and the days we live. Using muted tones and abstract imagery, she creates forms and compositions that corrolate with both specific and universal memories, moments and ideas. Her works challenges how the internal reflects on the external we see around us.
